Welcome to NASA-EPSCoR's
Tropical Atmospheric Sciences Center
The Tropical Atmospheric Sciences Center (TASC) is a newly created research center based in Puerto Rico, sponsored by NASA-EPSCoR (NASA's Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research). The Center's main research areas include:
Atmospheric Interactions
Atmosphere-Ocean Interactions
Atmosphere-Terrestrial Interactions
Research at the Center currently involves twenty one scientists from the University of Puerto Rico (Río Piedras and Mayagüez campuses, and the Terrestrial Ecology Division of the Central Administration), the International Institute of Tropical Forestry (U.S.D.A. Forest Service) and the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center at Arecibo (NSF-Cornell). TASC is especially concerned with the study of the origin, interaction and fates of atmospheric compounds that are reactive, radiatively significant or polluting in the tropics.
